Grande Prairie RCMP on scene of FATAL collision , traffic delays expected – UPDATE #1

Grande Prairie, Alberta – (8:16 PM)  At approximately 2:30 p.m. today Grande Prairie RCMP responded to a two vehicle collision at the intersection of highway 43 and 156 Ave.

Preliminary investigation has revealed a pickup truck travelling northbound on highway 43 collided with a semi truck that was travelling eastbound on 156 Avenue.

The driver of the pickup truck was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. While at the hospital the 50-year-old male driver from Grande Prairie was pronounced deceased. The adult male driver of the semi truck was not injured.

Grande Prairie RCMP along with a RCMP Collision Analyst continue to investigate. The name of the deceased will not be released.

BACKGROUND

Grande Prairie, Alberta – (3:53 PM) Grande Prairie RCMP are currently on scene of a collision involving a pickup truck and a semi in the Northbound lane of 100 Street at 157 Avenue.

Traffic is currently being diverted from the location. RCMP are advising motorists travelling in the area to expect delays and to please consider choosing an alternate route
