Two youth arrested after Saskatoon Police observed them in a dispute early this morning

Saskatoon, Saskatchewan – At approximately 12:45 a.m., July 2, 2020, a Patrol officer observed a male and a female yelling at each other in the area of 23rd Street West and Avenue K North. When Police approached to intervene, the male provided a false name to Police and resisted arrest. While the officer was trying to take him into custody, he attempted to strike the officer. An altercation ensued during which the female also began assaulting the police officer.

Other officers arrived and assisted in taking the youths into custody. The male was found to be in possession of bear spray, and the female was concealing a knife in her waistband.

The 16-year-old male is charged with Assaulting a Peace Officer, Obstruction, Possession of Dangerous Weapon and Breach of Probation. The 16-year-old female is charged with Assaulting a Peace Officer, Possession of Dangerous Weapon and Carry Concealed Weapon.

The officer was not seriously injured as a result.
