Fort Saskatchewan RCMP seize firearm and drugs during rural traffic stop

Bruderheim, Alberta – On July 3, 2020 at 1250 am, while conducting pro-active patrols on Highway 45, members of the Fort Saskatchewan RCMP conducted a vehicle stop.

RCMP members entered into an investigation and the vehicle occupants were subsequently taken into custody.
A search incidental to arrest was completed and the following items were seized:

SKS Rifle, Ammunition, Knives, Bear Spray, suspected Methamphetamine and quantities of Gamma-Hydroxybutyrate (GHB.)

As a result of the investigation, the female passenger from Sherwood Park was released from custody without charge.

Curtis Strong (29) of Sherwood Park, received violation tickets under the Rules of the Road and Gaming and Liquor act. He is also facing charges under the criminal code, including:

• Possession of a Controlled Substance

• Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose

• Unsafe Storage of a Firearm

Strong was released from custody on conditions following a Judicial Hearing and is set to appear in Fort Saskatchewan Provincial Court on August 20, 2020.
