Peace Regional RCMP Lay Charges Following Recovery of Stolen Property; “estimated combined value of approximately $30,000”

Peace River, Alberta – On July 4, 2020, at approximately 5:00 PM, Peace Regional RCMP responded to a report of a disturbance at a local self-storage facility. Police attended the business and encountered an individual associated to one of the storage units, who was exhibiting erratic behaviour. While interacting with this individual, police observed stolen property items, leading to an investigation that resulted in the application for and execution of a search warrant on the associated storage locker. Multiple stolen industrial equipment items were recovered as a result of the search, of an estimated combined value of approximately $30,000.

As a result of the investigation, Kyle Patrick NEEL, a 36 year old Berwyn resident, has been charged with the following offences:

• Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 (6 counts)

• Failing to comply with conditions of a release order (3 counts)

• Failing to comply with conditions of a probation order (2 counts)

• Possession of ammunition while prohibited from doing so

NEEL was brought before a Justice of the Peace and has been remanded into custody pending a judicial interim release hearing. He is scheduled to appear in Peace River provincial court on July 6, 2020, in relation to these matters.
