London, Ontario – A London woman is facing charges after a woman and two London police officers were assaulted over the weekend.
On Sunday, July 5, 2020, a 30-year-old female attended a family member’s house on Boullee Street, and assaulted a woman who was seated near the home. The two women are not known to each other and the assault was unprovoked. A family member escorted the suspect from the property to de-escalate the situation. They proceeded to go for a drive and while inside of the vehicle on Highbury Avenue North near Dundas Street, the female suspect assaulted the male driver of the car.
London police were contacted, and the woman was arrested by officers. The driver of the vehicle did not wish to proceed with charges in relation to the assault on him.
While officers were walking the suspect to the police cruiser, the woman began to actively resist police and proceeded to spit on them.
The female victim was transported to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries, while the two police officers did not sustain any physical injuries.
As a result of the investigation, Freskela Danielle Malula, 30, of London, is charged the following Criminal Code of Canada offences:
• Resist arrest;
• Two counts of assault a peace officer; and
• Fail to comply with release order.
The accused is scheduled to appear in London court today in relation to the charges.
