Whitecourt, Alberta – On June 9, 2017, the Bank of Nova Scotia in the Whitecourt mid-town mall was robbed by a lone male wearing a disguise. The male pointed what appeared to be a firearm at employees and stole a large sum of cash before fleeing the bank.
After an extensive investigation involving numerous RCMP support units and resources, along with tips from the public, the Whitecourt RCMP was able to identify the person believed to be responsible for the robbery.
On June 24, 2020, the Whitecourt RCMP arrested and charged Matthew James McDavid (33) of Whitecourt with the following offences:
• Robbery with a weapon
• Using an imitation firearm in the commission of an offence
• Disguise with intent to commit an offence
McDavid was released to attend Whitecourt Provincial court on August 11, 2020.

Whitecourt RCMP Seeking Robbery Suspect *Update Photos*
Whitecourt, Alberta – Whitecourt RCMP are seeking the person responsible for an armed robbery in Whitecourt on June 9, 2017. Whitecourt RCMP are releasing surveillance images in hopes to identify the suspect.
The male suspect is described as:
• Caucasian male
• Early 20’s
• 5’10” tall with slim build
• Dark brown unkempt hair, light colour eyes
• Wearing baggy red coveralls with yellow reflective stripes
• Blue stretchy material covering his face, and white hard hat
• Carrying a black back pack with multiple pockets

Whitecourt RCMP Investigating Armed Robbery
Whitecourt, Alberta – On June 9, 2017 at approximately 1:30 pm the Whitecourt RCMP responded to an Armed Robbery at the Whitecourt Scotiabank. A lone male suspect in disguise and brandishing a weapon was responsible for the robbery. The male fled the bank on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. The incident is currently under investigation with the assistance of the Police Dog Service unit, Edson Forensic Investigation Services and Whitecourt General Investigation Services.
