Morinville RCMP investigate fatal collision on Alberta Highway 28

Sturgeon County, Alberta – On July 8, 2020 at 4:42 p.m., Morinville RCMP responded to a serious two vehicle collision on Highway 28 near Range Road 241. Despite efforts on scene to provide first aid, the collision resulted in a fatality.

A car travelling eastbound on Highway 28 collided head-on with a semi truck travelling westbound. The 50-year-old male driver from Fort McMurray, and lone occupant of the car, was determined to be deceased on scene.

Traffic was rerouted on Highway 28 while Morinville RCMP completed a scene examination and the highway was cleared. At approximately 8:00 p.m., the highway was re-opened for travel.

The investigation into this collision remains ongoing by the RCMP. Further updates will not be provided.
