UPDATE: Driver, from Edmonton, who sped away from police stop on Highway 16, rolling into creek, located deceased

Edson, Alberta – On July 11, 2020, at 4:52 p.m., Edson RCMP received information from relatives, who had been searching independently for the 44-yr-old male driver who had remained missing.

The 44-year-old male driver had been located deceased in the creek off Highway 16 near Range Road 171. This location is approximately 250 meters downstream from the initial vehicle collision scene.

Between July 3, 2020, and the recovery on July 11, 2020, the Edson RCMP, along with the assistance of RCMP Air Services and Police Dog Services, Search and Rescue, Yellowhead County drones, and the Saskatchewan RCMP Underwater Recovery Team, all conducted numerous ground, water and underwater searches in an effort to locate the missing driver. It is believed that receding water levels and a number of other factors contributed to the delayed discovery.
