Man arrested following incident involving gunshots in Petitcodiac, New Brunswick

Petitcodiac, New Brunswick – A 40-year-old man from Petitcodiac has been arrested following an incident during which shots were fired.

On July 20, 2020, at about 1:15 p.m., members of the Riverview RCMP responded to a report of shots being fired near a residence on Route 106 in Petitcodiac.

When police arrived, a man refused to talk with police and locked himself inside the home.

Route 106 was closed to traffic for a period of time while police worked to make contact with the man.

The man exited the home without incident shortly before 5 p.m. Two other people, a man and a woman, also exited the home. No one was injured.

The 40-year-old man was arrested and released on an undertaking to appear in Moncton Provincial Court on December 4, 2020, at 9:30 a.m.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
