Black Duck Cove man faces charge for excessive speeding near Doctors Brook; vehicle seized and license suspended

Port Saunders, Newfoundland and Labrador – A 49-year-old Black Duck Cove man is facing a charge by RCMP Traffic Services West and Port Saunders RCMP for excessive speeding on Route 430 near Doctors Brook on July 26, 2020.

Officers were on patrol south of Doctors Brook and observed a car travelling at a high rate of speed. Police used a radar and obtained the vehicle’s speed as 147 km/hr in a 90 km/hr zone. A traffic stop was conducted.

The driver will face a charge under the Highway Traffic Act for speeding more than 51 km/hr, his licence was suspended and his vehicle was impounded.

RCMP NL continues to enforce excessive speeds and warns motorists of the dangers they place themselves and others in while driving in this manner.
