Brooks, Alberta – On July 28th, 2020 at approximately 6:00 pm, Brooks RCMP members received reports of a suspicions adult male in the Duke of Sutherland Park located in Brooks, Alberta. It was alleged that the suspect approached a 6 year old female child and engaged in a conversation with her in an apparent attempt to be-friend her and solicit personal and inappropriate information from her. RCMP members attended and located the suspect with assistance from the public.
The suspect was identified, found to be under the influence of alcohol, and found to be in breach of several conditions related to a Recognizance.
The suspect, a 40 year old male from Edmonton, Alberta, was arrested and charged with:
1 Count of Causing A Disturbance – Sec 175 of the Criminal Code of Canada; and
3 Counts of Fail to Comply with a Recognizance – Sec 145(5)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
The suspect was released from custody with several conditions and is scheduled to appear in Brooks Provincial Court on October 7th, 2020.
