RCMP confirm a man drowned in Cultus Lake, B.C.

Chilliwack, BC – RCMP confirm that a man drowned while swimming in Cultus Lake on Saturday.

On July 25, 2020 around 3 p.m., Chilliwack RCMP responded to a report that 22-year-old man drowned while swimming with friends at Entrance Bay, Cultus Lake. The man was located under the water by a Good Samaritan who pulled him to shore. Despite the efforts of Cultus Lake Fire Department and BC Ambulance, the victim died at the scene.

RCMP and BC Coroners Service continue to conduct their investigations of the incident.

The deceased young man is a South Asian national from India, says Corporal Mike Rail spokesperson for the UFVRD. The Chilliwack RCMP offer our support to family and friends.

Police are not releasing further information.
