Whistler, BC – Police were informed that late last night the 20 year old Vancouver man had died. Whistler RCMP will continue to work alongside the BC Coroner’s Service and the name will not be released at this time.
“Many people worked together to help locate and provide medical care yesterday afternoon and we want to thank everyone for all their efforts” says Sergeant Banks. “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man.”
On July 28th, 2020, at approximately 4:10 pm Whistler RCMP were contacted by a complainant who stated a man had been swimming in Alta Lake and they were unable to locate him.
Police arrived on scene at the Rainbow Park portion of Alta Lake where the man had been located and brought to shore. He was treated by members and BC Ambulance paramedics and was transported to hospital.
“This incident is still in its infancy and certain details are not known at this time” says Sergeant Sascha Banks. “I am aware of social media posts and a large crowd in the area which is why we are releasing basic details at this time.”
