Leduc RCMP investigate fatal collision on Highway 2 – UPDATED

Leduc, Alberta  – Traffic flow on Highway 2 northbound has been restored.

Leduc RCMP and the RCMP collision analyst continue to investigate this collision.

BACKGROUND

Leduc, Alberta – On July 31, 2020 at approximately 1:16a.m., Leduc RCMP responded to a report of a pedestrian having been struck on Highway 2 northbound, 1km south of 41 ave.

Preliminary investigation revealed a pedestrian was walking in the northbound active lanes and was struck by more than one vehicle. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene. The vehicle occupants were not injured. The identity of the deceased female is not being released pending notification of next of kin.

Leduc RCMP along with an RCMP Collision Analyst continue to investigate at this time. Traffic has been re-routed and drivers are asked to avoid this section of the highway as it closed for the investigation.
