Vermilion RCMP Execute Search Warrant and Recover Guns, Drugs and Stolen Property

Vermilion Alberta – On July 30, 2020 a local business reported a break and enter overnight. The initial investigation immediately identified three suspects. On July 31, 2020 a search warrant was granted for the shared residence of the three suspects. The execution of this warrant resulted in the recovery of items stolen in the July 30 break and enter as well as items stolen from another commercial break and enter on July 28. This investigation resulted in the seizure of several firearms, two of which were prohibited firearms due to being modified, multiple illegal drugs and a small amount of commercial explosive devices.

Charges have been laid against Mark Cameron (46), of Vermilion:

– Break and enter

– Possession of property obtained by crime X 9

– Possession for the purpose of trafficking

– Possess prohibited weapon X3

– Trafficking in property obtained by crime

– Possession of illegal drugs X4

Ken Thomas (39) of Vermilion:

– Break and enter

– Possession of property obtained by crime X 9

– Possession for the purpose of trafficking

– Possess prohibited weapon X3

– Trafficking in property obtained by crime

– Fail to comply with release order X2

– Possession of illegal drugs X4

Paige Tkachuk (24) of Vermilion:

– Break and enter

– Possession of property obtained by crime X 9

– Possession for the purpose of trafficking

– Possess prohibited weapon X3

– Trafficking in property obtained by crime

– Possess break in instruments

– Possession of illegal drugs X4

All three accused were held for judicial release hearings and remain in custody. Cameron and Tkachuk are next appearing August 10, 2020 in Vermilion Provincial Court. Thomas‘ next appearance is August 17, 2020 in Vermilion Provincial Court. More charges are anticipated as the investigation continues.
