Brooks RCMP Investigate Single Vehicle Collision with Injuries: Evergreen Park

Brooks, Alberta – At approximately 3:30 pm on August 8th, 2020, Brooks RCMP, Brooks Emergency Medical Services, and Brooks Fire Department responded to a 911 call of a single vehicle collision with the driver pinned in the vehicle at Evergreen Park near 1st Avenue and 3rd Street in Brooks, Alberta.

First Responders located a lone male seated in a mini-van; the van was lodged against a large tree. The male, a 86 year old from Brooks Alberta, was removed from the vehicle and transported to Brooks hospital by ground ambulance with undetermined but non life threatening injuries.

The investigation to date has revealed that the male, who was driving a 2002 Dodge Caravan, was travelling west along 1st Avenue West at a high rate of speed. The vehicle reached a dead end at the parking lot in Evergreen Park and the male lost control of his vehicle striking a garbage can then colliding with a large tree in the park.

No other persons or vehicles were involved in this occurrence.

Speed and alcohol are believed to be factors in this collision and RCMP continue to investigate.

No further information will be released by RCMP at this time.
