Suspect from Medicine Hat arrested by Brooks RCMP in industrial park: “suspect fled in a truck driving through fences, fields, an irrigation pipe”

Brooks, Alberta – On Aug. 9, 2020 at approximately 6:45 p.m., Brooks RCMP responded to multiple 911 calls of a suspicious person observed in the Brooks Industrial area.

An additional complaint was received of the same suspect trespassing on a rural property North of Highway 1 near Range Road 15-0 on the outskirts of Brooks. It was further reported that when confronted by landowners, the suspect fled in a truck driving through fences, fields, an irrigation pipe. The suspect eventually got the pickup truck stuck before fleeing on foot into a field.

Police attended the area and located the truck and were able to confirm it was stolen from a previous commercial break and enter investigation.

The suspect who fled was located in the area and arrested and taken into custody without incident.

Gerald Mohr (46) from Medicine Hat, Alta., was charged with:

Break and enter (x2)

Theft under $5000

Theft of motor vehicle


Mohr was also wanted on outstanding warrants for robbery and failing to comply with a release order at the time of his arrest. He was remanded into custody after a judicial hearing and is set to appear in Brooks Provincial Court on Aug. 12, 2020.
