Bay Roberts, Newfoundland and Labrador – On Monday, August 10, Clarke’s Beach resident Carl Caravan pled guilty and was convicted on the Criminal Code charge of unlawfully causing an animal unnecessary suffering. The court imposed a suspended sentence and prohibited Caravan from owning animals for a period of five years. He was also ordered to pay restitution of nearly $7000 to the SPCA.
The conviction stems from an investigation by Bay Roberts RCMP that started in the spring of 2019 and saw five dogs seized from Caravan’s home. The animals were placed in foster care by the SPCA and were eventually rehomed.
