RCMP Provincial Crime Reduction Team seize firearms and weapons following a traffic stop near Shellbrook

Shellbrook, Saskatchewan – On August 9, 2020, at approximately 3 p.m., officers from the RCMP’s Provincial Crime Reduction Team conducted a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle turning onto a dirt road near Shellbrook, SK.

During the course of the vehicle stop, a simple license and registration check turned into a firearms and weapons possession investigation due to several factors that will be presented as part of the court process. A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of two modified firearms, bear spray and several knives. In addition, officers located drug paraphernalia and ammunition.

The three occupants of the vehicle were arrested as a result of the investigation.

Alphonse Durocher, a 36-year-old male from Beauval, SK, is charged with the following:

Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose

Possession of a Prohibited Firearm without Authorization

Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle with Firearm

Failure to Comply with a Firearms Prohibition

Possession of Ammunition While Prohibited

Failure to Comply with an Undertaking

Summer Isbister, a 20-year-old female from the Shellbrook District, is charged with the following:

Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose

Possession of a Prohibited Firearm without Authorization

Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle with Firearm

The third individual, a 39-year-old male from Saskatoon, was issued a traffic ticket for driving without a license.

Alphonse Durocher was remanded into custody and is scheduled to make his next court appearance on September 14, 2020.

Summer Isbister was released and scheduled to appear in court in Shellbrook in November.
