Lloydminster RCMP charge two with forcible confinement

Lloydminster, Alberta – On Aug. 5, 2020, Lloydminster RCMP along with Saskatchewan RCMP executed a search warrant at a residence on the 400th block of 44 Street in Lloydminster.

Two males were arrested and charged in relation to an ongoing investigation that was reported to police on July 30, 2020 where it is alleged a victim was confined to the residence and assaulted before being able to flee.

Upon entry into the residence police located unknown substances inside. As a precaution the Alberta RCMP Clandestine Laboratory Enforcement and Response team (CLEAR) were called out to assist.

Luke Dean (27) of Lloydminster and Jason Palsich (37) both of Lloydminster were jointly charged with:

· Forcible confinement

· Assault with a weapon

· Uttering threats

· Robbery with a weapon

· Extortion

Both accused were remanded into custody after a judicial hearing and are set to appear next in Lloydminster Provincial Court on Aug. 17, 2020.

The investigation continues.

UPDATE: Saskatchewan RCMP advise motorists of road closure on Highway 16 in Lloydminster

Highway 16 has reopened in both directions and lanes are no longer closed.

Residents in the area will notice an increased police presence and are advised to continue following the direction of the officers on scene or to avoid the area until the investigation is complete.

Saskatchewan RCMP would like to thank residents for their cooperation and for providing officers with the space required to conduct a thorough investigation.

Saskatchewan RCMP will be closing a portion of Highway 16 in the City of Lloydminster to conduct a search warrant at a residence located on the 400th block of 44 Street. Both sides of the highway will be closed for an undetermined amount of time and traffic in both directions will be rerouted.

Motorists are advised to plan alternate routes and to follow traffic restrictions. Officers would like to thank motorists for their patience and for giving the space required to conduct a thorough investigation.
