Bonnyville RCMP investigate death of 80-year-old man in off-highway vehicle collision

Bonnyville, Alberta – On Aug. 16, 2020, at approximately 4:30 p.m., Bonnyville RCMP responded to a report of an 80-year-old male from Bonnyville that was overdue from an off-highway vehicle (OHV) trip in a number of possible areas in the M.D. of Bonnyville, Cold Lake and Ashmont.

Searches were conducted in local areas and further efforts were made to coordinate additional searches; however, at approximately 6:30 p.m., Bonnyville RCMP received a call from a member of the public who had located the off-highway vehicle rolled over in the area of Muriel Lake in the M.D. of Bonnyville. The male was with the OHV and was deceased.

Preliminary information revealed that the OHV is believed to have rolled over on a steep area of trail. There is nothing to indicate anything suspicious surrounding this fatal single OHV collision.

Bonnyville RCMP continue to investigate. The name of the deceased will not be released and no further updates are anticipated.
