Off-road vehicle collision claims life of 9-year-old boy: Manitoba

Peguis First Nation, Manitoba – On August 17, 2020, at 4:40 pm, Fisher Branch RCMP received a report of an off-road vehicle collision that occurred on a local road on Peguis First Nation.

Officers have determined that a 9-year-old boy, from Peguis First Nation, was operating a quad when he drove out from the brush and collided with another quad, being driven by a 13-year-old boy also from Peguis First Nation. The 9-year-old was thrown off his quad by the impact and struck the ground.

The 9-year-old was rushed to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Neither of the two boys were wearing helmets at the time of the collision.

Fisher Branch RCMP, along with the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office, continue to investigate.
