Three teens arrested for afternoon robbery of victim’s cell phone and cash: Airdrie, Alberta

Airdrie, Alberta – On August 20, 2020, at approximately 2:00 p.m, Airdrie RCMP were dispatched to an armed robbery which occurred near the Bayside Business Plaza, located in Airdrie, Alta.

Three youth were approached by a group of males outside of a business where they were robbed of a cell phone and an undisclosed amount of money. During the robbery the suspects displayed replica firearms and canisters of bear spray to the victims. No one was injured during the incident and the suspects fled the area on foot.

Patrol units and members from the Airdrie RCMP Crime Reduction Unit quickly contained the area and located three suspects. During the arrest, two replica handguns and two canisters of bear spray were recovered.

Further investigation by Airdrie RCMP General Investigation Section resulted in three youth being charged with the following offences:

17 year old male from Calgary:

Robbery with a Firearm;

Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public ;

Carrying a concealed weapon;

Resisting arrest.



16 year old male from Calgary:

Robbery with a Firearm

16 year old male from Airdrie:

Robbery with a Firearm;

Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public;

Carrying a concealed weapon.
