Winnipeg, Manitoba – On August 23, 2020, at 7:00 p.m., Winnipeg Police General Patrol officers responded to a report of a male armed with a 2-foot machete attempting to climb a statue outside a restaurant located in the 800 block of St. James Avenue.
Responding officers confronted the male, who discharged bear spray at both officers and fled through the parking lot. Police caught up the suspect after a short foot chase where the male again discharged bear spray at the officers.
Police deployed conducted energy weapon (Taser) and arrested the male.
Kevin Andrew GRIER-BRUCE, 19, has been charged with:
– Assault Peace Officer with Weapon x 2
– Utter Threats x 2
– Possess Prohibited/Restricted Weapon
– Possess Weapon x 2
– Fail to Comply with Court Conditions x 2
