Paul Band First Nation, Alta. – An arrest has been made and charges laid in relation to the August 28, 2020 homicide of Rufus Clive Rain (54) of Paul Band First Nation.
On September 3, 2020, RCMP arrested 23-year-old Lynden Aerin Bird from Paul Band First Nation. Lynden Bird has been charged with one count of Manslaughter. A Judicial Interim Release Hearing was held on September 4, 2020 and he was remanded into custody with a first appearance date of September 9, 2020 in Stony Plain Provincial Court.
As this matter is now before the courts, no further updates will be provided.
BACKGROUND
Paul Band First Nation, Alberta – On August. 28, 2020 at 9:28 a.m., the Parkland RCMP responded to a request to assist EMS with an unresponsive male. When the RCMP arrived on scene it was determined that the 53-year-old male was confirmed to be deceased, outside a residence.
On Sept. 1, 2020 an autopsy was conducted and the manner of death was determined to be a homicide. The RCMP Major Crimes Unit was deployed to take carriage of the investigation.
