Suspicious behaviour leads police to drug seizure in Courtenay, B.C.

Comox Valley, BC – On August 12, 2020 the Comox Valley RCMP Street Crimes Unit seized what is believed to be heroin and fentanyl after a report of suspicious activity in Courtenay.

The Comox Valley RCMP received a report of the suspicious behaviour on August 5, 2020. The behaviour was consistent with drug trafficking so the Street Crimes Unit initiated an investigation.

On August 12, 2020 members of the Comox Valley RCMP Street Crimes Unit stopped a vehicle and arrested the driver for trafficking in a controlled substance. The subsequent search of the vehicle lead police to the discovery of a large amount cash and suspected fentanyl and heroin.

Monika Terragni, Media Relations Officer, Comox Valley RCMP. This seizure will have a direct impact on the drug trade here in the Comox Valley and it all started with someone taking the time to report suspicious activity in their neighbourhood she added.

The driver has been released from custody and is expected to appear in court in the coming months.
