Airdrie, Alberta – On Sept. 2, 2020 at approximately 8:00 a.m., a member of the Alberta RCMP Traffic Unit in Airdrie, with a keen eye, observed a discrepancy with a licence plate of a vehicle in a parking lot at a local business.
A check of the licence plate on the police database indicated the registration for the licence plate was expired. A traffic stop was conducted and the vehicle being operated was found to also not be insured. A closer inspection of the licence plate showed that a homemade validation sticker was placed on top of the expired 2019 validation tag.

A 45-year-old female from Calgary was issued violation tickets for:
· Operate unregistered motor vehicle
· Use of altered plate
· No insurance
In addition to the tow charges, the driver is facing up to $3685 in fines. The fee to register a vehicle for one year is $93.
