Boyle RCMP charge Edmonton male with attempted murder; “report of an adult female that had been stabbed at a campground “

Boyle, Alberta – On Aug. 29, 2020 at approximately 8:30 p.m., Boyle RCMP responded to a report of an adult female that had been stabbed at a campground south of Boyle.

The victim was transported via STARS to an Edmonton hospital with serious life threatening injuries. The male suspect fled into a wooded area after the stabbing occurred.

RCMP Police Dog Services and Edmonton Police Services – Air 1 assisted with search efforts but the male was not immediately located.

Two RCMP Forensic Identification Services members with keen eyes, who attended the scene were heading back to the Edmonton area at approximately 5 p.m., on Aug. 30, 2020, when a male matching the description was spotted walking on Highway 28 north of Redwater. Redwater RCMP along with Redwater Integrated Traffic Unit assisted with the arrest of the suspect male. He was taken into custody without incident.

Ethan Cooper (32) of Edmonton was charged with attempted murder. He was remanded into custody following a judicial hearing and is set to appear in Boyle Provincial Court on Sept. 8, 2020.

RCMP are not seeking any other suspects in relation to this incident and do not believe this was a random act.
