Boyle RCMP seeking the public’s assistance to locate driver who gave ride to hitchhiker – UPDATED

Boyle, Alberta – Boyle RCMP would like to thank the public and media for their assistance.

They are no longer seeking assistance in locating the driver as the driver has been in contact with police.

BACKGROUND

Boyle, Alberta – Boyle RCMP is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the driver of a yellow Pontiac Sunfire who may have given a ride to a hitchhiker near Redwater, Alta. on Sunday, Aug. 30, 2020, around 2:15 p.m.

The hitchhiker picked up on that date had the following descriptors:

· Caucasian male

· Bald head with a beard

· May have been wearing a surgical mask

· Wearing an orange coat and pants, black socks, and no shoes

The hitchhiker was provided a ride to the Husky Gas Station located at Highway 28 and Highway 63 near Redwater, Alta.

The RCMP believes the driver did not know the hitchhiker and merely provided a stranded male with a ride. The RCMP would like to speak with the driver of the car.
