Southern Alberta Crime Reduction Unit and Coaldale RCMP make arrest which resulted in trafficking charges

Coaldale, Alta. – On Sept. 2, 2020, members of the Southern Alberta Crime Reduction Unit and Coaldale RCMP arrested a local resident for possession of a stolen licence plate.

Search incidental to arrest found the male to be in possession of what is believed to be several controlled substances. A significant amount of fentanyl (29 grams) was seized, as well as cocaine, LSD and mushrooms.

Paul McCarthy (40) of Coaldale has been charged with:

· possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking

· unlawfully possess cocaine

· possession of a stolen licence plate

Following a judicial hearing McCarthy did not speak to bail and is scheduled to appear in Lethbridge Provincial Court.
