London Police charge two youth for robbing victim of bus tickets

London, Ontario – Two London youths are facing charges after they were arrested in relation to a robbery in the downtown area over the weekend.

On Sunday, September 6, 2020, shortly before 4 p.m., a 19-year-old man was walking eastbound on Nelson Street near Adelaide Street when three male youths approached him. One of the youths asked the victim if he had any money, while another youth was armed with a knife and demanded the victim’s wallet. The victim did not have any money on him, and the youths stole bus tickets from the wallet and fled the area on foot.

Police were contacted and suspect descriptions were provided. Officers searched the area, and youths fitting the descriptions were observed in the area of Wellington Road near the river. Upon seeing police, the suspects fled westbound along the bike path into a nearby park. All three suspects were arrested by officers.

The stolen bus tickets were recovered. The victim did not sustain any injuries.

As a result of the investigation, two of the youths, aged 16 and 14, both of London, who cannot be named under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, were charged jointly with robbery, while the third is not facing any charges.
