Sturgeon County, Alberta – In the morning of September 8, 2020 Morinville RCMP were investigating a possible impaired driver near Gibbons, Alberta. Police were able to determine at this time the licence plate on the vehicle was stolen. With the assistance of a conscientious member of the general public Morinville RCMP were able to locate the erratically driven motor vehicle. Police attempted to stop the vehicle, however the vehicle did not pull over. Police shortly thereafter deactivated their emergency equipment due to public safety reasons. Further reports from the public advised the vehicle continued driving dangerously and approximately 11 km’s later the vehicle went off the road at a high rate of speed and collided with a residence on highway 642 east of the Town of Morinville causing significant damage to the vehicle and residence. The driver despite the collision fled on foot.
Police then immediately provided containment and called in RCMP Police Dog Services (PDS) and RCMP Air Services. Air Services located the male crawling through the barley field attempting to get away.
As a result Bradley Furness (age 38) was arrested without incident. The vehicle that Furness was driving was determined to be stolen as well.

Flight from Police
Dangerous Driving
Driving While Prohibited
Possession of Stolen Property exceeding $5000
Possession of Stolen Property not exceeding $5000
Possession of Break in Instruments

Breach of a Release order for being behind the wheel of a motor vehicle without the Registered Owner present and Breach of Probation
Furness was also arrested on 18 outstanding charges for several warrants.

Furness has been remanded into custody with the next court date of September 10, 2020 in Morinville Provincial Court.
