Vancouver Police asks for public’s help in homicide investigation

Vancouver, BC – Vancouver Police are looking for dashcam video from the public in a new area of interest related to the murder of Iqubal Grewal last week.

“Investigators are making progress in this case and are thankful for the video they have received from the public so far,” says Constable Tania Visintin, VPD. “Their investigation has led them to ask for additional video in a new area.”

Police are asking for drivers to come forward with dashcam video from September 16, captured between 7 and 8 p.m., in the area of Westminster Highway between Knight Street and Nelson Road in Richmond.

Twenty-three year-old Grewal was murdered on September 16. He was found shot dead in front of a house near Knight Street and East 64th Avenue. Police believe his murder is related to gang activity.

Police have determined, and previously indicated, that a burned out GMC Terrain found in Richmond, shortly after the murder, is related to the case.

Anyone with additional information or dashcam video from the specified area at the specified time, is asked to call investigators at 604-717-2500.

Vancouver Police are asking for witnesses to come forward in the murder of 23-year-old Vancouver resident Iqubal Grewal.

Grewal was murdered on Wednesday evening. He was found dead in front of a house near Knight Street and East 64th Avenue near 7:30 p.m. Investigators believe Grewal was targeted.

“Investigators have determined the vehicle used in connection to the murder – a GMC Terrain – was burned out in Richmond,” says Constable Tania Visintin, VPD. “We believe there are people out there who have information on this incident and we are urging them to come forward.”

Police are also looking for dashcam video from any vehicles that were near Knight Street and East 64th or in the area of Kartner Road and Westminster Highway in Richmond, between 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday evening. BACKGROUND

Vancouver Police are investigating three homicides in two unrelated incidents that occurred in Vancouver overnight.

Just after 7 p.m., officers were called to the Astoria Hotel where two people were found unresponsive in a room. One victim was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other died at hospital.

Then shortly after, just before 7:30 p.m., officers responded to multiple 911 calls of shots being fired near East 64th Avenue and Knight Street. One victim was found dead in front of a house in the area.

Both incidents are being investigated by VPD’s Major Crime Section. Investigators do not believe there is any risk to the public.

These homicides mark Vancouver’s 12th, 13th and 14th homicides of the year.
