Cochrane RCMP investigate fatal motor vehicle versus cyclist collision on Highway 22

Cochrane, Alberta – On September 30th 2020 at around 5:30 pm Cochrane RCMP responded to a fatal motor vehicle collision between a cyclist and a vehicle on Highway 22 South of the Sunset Blvd intersection. Upon arrival, emergency crews located a 54 year old male cyclist from Cochrane deceased. The driver of the vehicle a 58 year old Cochrane man was taken by EMS to the hospital with non life threatening injuries. Police believe that alcohol was a factor in this collision and the investigation continues.

Police would like to advise residents who have been affected by this incident to call victim services at 403-851-8055. Police are also looking for more witnesses to come forward including anyone who’s vehicle may have been struck on Sunset Drive prior.
