Whitehorse river rescue; “on scene in minutes and located the 62-year in the river”

Whitehorse, Yukon – On October 6th, 2020 at 10:25 am, members of the Whitehorse RCMP Detachment were dispatched to a 911 call from a concerned Whitehorse transit employee witnessed a man who they believed may be causing harm to themselves.

Members were on scene in minutes and located the 62-year in the river. As members communicated from the shore, the man responded positively and began to swim toward them. An RCMP river boat was dispatched to the scene and was able to pull the man from the river. The man was brought to the boat launch, treated by EMS and then taken to hospital for treatment.
