Kelowna RCMP investigate fatal fall at Myra Canyon

Kelowna, BC – RCMP and the BC Coroners Service are investigating a tragic death at Myra Canyon.

On October 6, 2020 just before 12:30 p.m., Kelowna RCMP were called to assist Kelowna Fire Department and BC Emergency Health Services at Myra Canyon in Kelowna for a report of man who had fallen down an embankment. Despite the best efforts of everyone involved, the 85-year-old man could not be resuscitated and was pronounced deceased. Emergency first responders located the man’s body and conducted a recovery operation to remove him from the area where he was transported to hospital.

At this time, criminality is not suspected in the man’s death, states Cst. Solana Paré, spokesperson for the Kelowna Regional RCMP Detachment. Our thoughts and prayers go out to those who witnessed this tragic event, as well as the mans’ friends and family during this difficult time.

Due to the privacy of the deceased, as per the Coroners Act, no further information will be released by the RCMP or the BC Coroners Service.
