Colwood, BC – On October 19 2020, at approximately 1:40 a.m. the West Shore RCMP received numerous complaints from witnesses who reported hearing a loud crash followed by a power outage in the area of Sooke Rd and Marty Lane in Colwood.
West Shore RCMP frontline officers attended and located a 2004 Nissan 350Z with extensive body damage. Police determined the driver of the Nissan had crashed into a nearby power pole with such force it took the pole right off the foundation.
The driver of the Nissan was identified as a 27 year old male who is a resident of Vancouver. The driver did not suffer any major injuries and was detained for an impaired driving investigation. The passenger of the Nissan, a 22 year old male, was ejected from the vehicle and taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries and is expected to recover.
This was a single vehicle collision thankfully no else was injured. Residents in the area lost power for an estimated 4-5 hours. Police are continuing their investigation and charges of impaired driving are forthcoming, Cst. Nancy Saggar, West Shore RCMP Media Relations Officer.
