Whistler, Pemberton, BC – On October 21, 2020 at approximately 8:20 AM Whistler RCMP noted a vehicle in the area in Highway 99 and Village Gate driving in an erratic manner. When Police attempted to stop the vehicle the vehicle fail to stop for police and fled. No pursuit was initiated; however, members of the Whistler RCMP began to look for the vehicle through the Whistler community.
Police began to receive reports of the vehicle driving in an erratic manner south bound towards Cheakamus. Police were able to locate the vehicle on Cheakamus Lake Forest Service Road where it once again fled from police.
The Police successfully deflated the vehicles tires with the use of spike belts as the vehicle exited the FSR; however, the driver continued to drive the vehicle in an extremely dangerous manner from Cheakamus into Alpha Lake park and then onto the railway tracks where the vehicle became stuck. The driver, a 34 year old male from Alberta, fled the vehicle and was taken into custody by officers. The vehicle, a white, 2021 Ford F350 pickup was confirmed stolen out of Alberta.
