Sylvan Lake RCMP investigate fatal collision on Alberta Highway 11

Red Deer County, Alberta – The Sylvan Lake RCMP responded yesterday evening at 6:54 p.m. to a report of a serious two vehicle collision on Highway 11 which resulted in the death of one male.

A semi truck travelling westbound on Highway 11, just east of Highway 781, and an SUV travelling eastbound collided head-on in the westbound lane.

The 21-year-old male driver of the SUV, from Calgary, was determined to be deceased on scene. There were no other occupants in the SUV. The driver of the semi truck was not injured.

Traffic on Highway 11 was diverted for several hours while the RCMP Collision Analyst conducted a scene examination. The cause of the collision remains under RCMP investigation. No further updates about this collision are expected.
