High Level RCMP Crime Reduction Unit joint operation targets drug trafficking and results in four charged

High Level, Alberta – Following a lengthy and comprehensive joint investigation, four people have been charged with trafficking cocaine in High Level. The High Level RCMP Crime Reduction Unit (CRU), in conjunction with High Level RCMP and Grande Prairie Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT), carried out a successful operation targeting street level drug trafficking within the two northern communities of High Level and Grande Prairie, Alta.

High Level RCMP CRU, along with the assistance of Grande Prairie ALERT, High Level RCMP and the High Prairie RCMP Police Dog Service, executed a search warrant on October 1, 2020, at a residence in High Level. This search resulted in the seizure of cocaine, cannabis, drug trafficking paraphernalia and a quantity of Canadian currency.

Jersey Rennie (19) of Paddle Prairie, Alta., is charged with:

· Possession of a weapon for a purpose dangerous to the public

· Fail to comply with conditions (x4)

· Trafficking a controlled substance – cocaine (x2)

· Possession for the purpose of trafficking – codeine

· Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 (x3)

· Carrying a concealed weapon

Following a judicial hearing, Rennie was remanded into custody and is scheduled to attend High Level Provincial Court on Oct. 26, 2020.

Douglas Copeland (42) of High Level is charged with:

· Trafficking a controlled substance – cocaine (x2)

· Possession for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine

· Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 (x3)

Copeland was released from custody and is scheduled to attend High Level Provincial Court on Nov. 2, 2020.

An adult male involved in this incident was charged with three offences that have since been dealt with in court.

In addition, an arrest warrant has been issued for Randi Lynn Courtoreille (37), a female from High Level. She is charged with:

· Trafficking a controlled substance – cocaine (x2)

· Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 (x2)
