Edmonton Traffic Section investigating fatal collision on Lessard Road; “struck by an object that came off a semi-tractor unit”

Edmonton, Alberta – EPS Major Collision Investigation Section (MCIS) is investigating a fatal collision that occurred this morning (Oct. 28, 2020) on Lessard Road.

Just after 7:30 a.m. SW Division officers responded to a report of a minivan traveling eastbound on Lessard Road being struck by an object that came off a semi-tractor unit.

The 36-year-old female driver of the minivan was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS.

Preliminary investigations have determined that an eight-wheel converter dolly separated from the semi-tractor unit and struck the driver’s side of the van. The semi-tractor unit was traveling westbound on Lessard Road and the dolly crossed the center median into opposing traffic, colliding with the van.
