NT RCMP MCU charges man with murder: request public assistance to locate: Renewed Appeal to Public

Yellowknife, Northwest Territories – The Northwest Territories RCMP Major Crimes Unit are renewing their request for public assistance to locate Ahmed Mohamed wanted for Murder and Assault Causing Bodily Harm.

RCMP have not been able to locate 21-year-old Ahmed Mohamed aka “Scotty” and the warrant remains outstanding. Mr Mohamed faces charges of Murder s. 235 CC and Assault Causing Bodily Harm s.267(b) CC related to the October 31, 2020 homicide.

The RCMP believes Mr Mohamed may have left the Yellowknife area, with Edmonton AB and Toronto ON being cities of interest. As Northwest Territories borders Alberta, the main road system out of the territory and communities along it are of interest as well.

“At this time, we believe Mr Mohamed may have fled the area and we are seeking any information that may indicate his whereabouts, either currently, or over the past 18 days. The investigation still indicates this is not a random incident. While there may be some element of risk to the public, we do not believe there is imminent danger to the general public. We advise extreme caution. Do not approach and call RCMP if you see him or know where he is” states Cst Matt Halstead, NT RCMP Major Crimes.

Ahmed Mohamed “Scotty” is a black male, 170 cm/ 5’7″, 50 kg/110 pounds with black curly hair, which may be braided, and brown eyes.

BACKGROUND

Yellowknife, Northwest Territories – The Northwest Territories RCMP Major Crimes Unit have laid charges against Ahmed Mohamed for Murder and Assault Causing Bodily Harm. They are requesting assistance from the public to locate the individual.

A warrant for arrest of 21-year-old Ahmed Mohamed aka “Scotty” has been issued for the following offences of Murder s. 235 CC and Assault Causing Bodily Harm s.267(b) CC regarding October 31’s suspicious death, which has now been classified as a homicide.

“Through the investigation we were able to identify an individual in relation to the homicide. The investigation indicates this is not a random incident. While there may be some element of risk to the public, we do not believe there is imminent danger to the general public. Given the circumstances of the investigation, we advise extreme caution. Do not approach and call RCMP if you see him or know where he is” states Cst Matt Halstead, NT RCMP Major Crimes.
