Fort Vermilion RCMP arrest Dangerous Driver after fleeing from police

Fort Vermilion, Alberta – One person facing dangerous operation and flight charges after Fort Vermilion RCMP identified a dangerous driver in La Crete, Alberta.

On November 15, 2020 at approximately 2:55 a.m., a member of the Fort Vermilion RCMP was on community patrol when they observed a vehicle driving erratically on 100 Street in La Crete, Alberta. A traffic stop was initiated, where the driver did not stop and immediately fled away at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was later located, subsequently leading to the arrest of the driver.

The driver was also identified as being involved other occurrences, where they were allegedly driving dangerously.

Bernie Giesbrecht (18) of La Crete, has been charged with:

· Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance (x2) – Sect. 320.13(1) of the Criminal Code

· Flight from a Peace Officer – Sect. 320.17 of the Criminal Code

Bernie is scheduled to appear in Fort Vermilion provincial court on January 26, 2021, in relation to these allegations.
