Man sentenced for trafficking cocaine: New Brunswick

Rang-Saint-Georges, New Brunswick – A 35-year-old man from Rang-Saint-Georges, N.B., has pleaded guilty to trafficking cocaine and been sentenced to two years plus a day in prison, in connection with a drug investigation that began in 2018.

On December 7, 2018, the Caraquet RCMP, with the assistance of the Northeast District RCMP Crime Reduction Unit, executed a search warrant at a home on Route 135 in Rang-Saint-Georges. Police seized quantities of cocaine and marijuana, as well as drug paraphernalia, a firearm and money.

On August 31, 2020, police executed search warrants at two homes on Route 135. During the searches, police encountered fortified doors, and seized quantities of cocaine believed to be intended for distribution, as well as significant quantities of Canadian and US currency.

Thirty-five-year-old Harry Arseneault was charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking in cocaine and one count of failure to comply with an undertaking in connection with the investigations. He pleaded guilty to the charges. On November 5, 2020, he was sentenced to two years plus a day in prison. Following his release, he is prohibited from owning a firearm for a period of ten years.

The investigation is ongoing.

Man arrested in connection with seizure of drugs and a firearm

A man from northeastern New Brunswick has been arrested in connection with a drug seizure at a home in Rang-Saint-Georges, N.B.

On December 7, 2018, the Caraquet RCMP, with the assistance of the Northeast District RCMP Crime Reduction Unit, executed a search warrant at a home on Route 135.

Police seized drug paraphernalia and quantities of what are believed to be cocaine and marijuana, along with cash and a firearm.

A 33-year-old man from Rang-Saint-Georges was arrested at the home and later released on a promise to appear in Caraquet Provincial Court in April 2019, in connection with the seizure.

The investigation is ongoing.

Police seized drugs and cash following the execution of two search warrants at two homes in Rang-Saint-Georges, N.B.

On August 31, 2020, around 9:30 p.m., police searched two homes on Route 135. The search was executed as part of an ongoing drug trafficking investigation that began earlier this year.

During the search, RCMP seized quantities of what is believed to cocaine and an undisclosed amount of currency. A 35-year-old man, a 65-year-old man and a 52-year-old woman, all from Rang-Saint-Georges, were arrested at the scene without incident and were later released pending a future court appearance.

The investigation is ongoing.

Members of the Caraquet detachment, Tracadie detachment, Northeast District Crime Reduction Unit, New Brunswick Emergency Response Team and the RCMP’s Police Dog Services assisted during the search warrants.
