Grande Prairie RCMP traffic stop leads to arrest and seizure of firearm

Grande Prairie, Alberta – Grande Prairie RCMP has charged one male and female with firearms related offences following a traffic stop.

On Nov. 19, 2020 at 12:05 a.m. RCMP were making patrols in the area of 96 Street and 108 Avenue when they observed a vehicle with an obstructed licence plate. A traffic stop was conducted and as a result of an investigation the driver and passenger were arrested. During a search of the vehicle police seized a loaded 12 gauge shotgun and shotgun shells.

Donald Wilson (46) and Breanna Bower (20) of Grande Prairie have been charged with the following Criminal Code Offences:

· Careless use, storage and transportation of a firearm

· Unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle

· Possession of a firearm without a licence

Wilson and Bower are scheduled to appear in Grande Prairie Provincial Court on Dec 23, 2020.
