Grande Prairie RCMP heavy police presence in Avondale & Royal Oaks – Update #1

Grande Prairie, Alberta – In the early morning hours of Nov. 30, 2020, Grande Prairie RCMP learned of an investigation into an armed robbery in Grande Cache. Hinton and Grande Cache RCMP responded to that incident.

Additional RCMP police resources were deployed in an effort to locate the suspects who fled. At approximately 6:30 a.m., Grande Prairie RCMP located the suspect vehicle and attempted a high risk vehicle stop. A pursuit of the suspect vehicle was engaged but later terminated for the safety of the public. RCMP continued to search for the suspects in Grande Prairie.

Shortly before 8 a.m., numerous schools in the Avondale and Royal Oaks areas were placed on a hold and secure, while general duty members and RCMP Police Dog Services attempted to locate the suspects. Police received a report of an attempted break-in to a residence in the area. Investigation into this report led police to arrest one female suspect, who is now in custody.

Police continue to search the area, and are looking for the following two male suspects:

Suspect #1:

Caucasian male

wearing black sweater, black pants, black boots, toque and gloves

tall, thin build

Suspect #2:

Caucasian male

goatee and mustache

wearing blue jeans, grey jacket, grey hat & light coloured backpack

tall, heavier build

Grande Prairie RCMP are actively seeking these suspects. These suspects are believed to be armed and dangerous – DO NOT approach.
