Airdrie Rural RCMP execute drug search warrant **Update** – “believed they had discovered a clandestine drug lab”

Rocky View County, Alberta – On November 23, 2020, at approximately 4:00 p.m., a Rocky View County CPO noticed thick black smoke coming from a property located in the Hamlet of Delacour, Alta. Airdrie Rural RCMP were called to assist and upon arrival they immediately entered into a drug investigation, as they believed they had discovered a clandestine drug lab.

Numerous agencies were called in to assist the Integrated Rural Unit (Airdrie/Beiseker) with the drug search warrant. The RCMP K Division CLEAR Team (Clandestine Lab Enforcement and Response), as well as chemists from the Health Canada Drug Analysis Section, were at the property for a period of three days. They were supported by EMS, Rocky View County Fire Department, and members of the Airdrie Crime Reduction Unit.

During this time period, an investigation was conducted into the suspected illegal synthetic drug production activities that were believed to be taking place at the location. A variety of technical chemistry equipment, as well as chemicals, solvents and yet to be identified unknown substances were located. Samples were obtained and will be sent for analysis to the Health Canada Drug Analysis Section lab so as to identify the unknown substances. Alberta Health Services has been contacted to assess the property as during the execution of the search warrant, toxic chemicals were observed.

Once the Health Canada Drug Analysis Section has completed their analysis of the items seized from the location, further information will be released to the media.

Edward Gary Felix (33 yrs) of Delacour, Alta was arrested at the scene and has been charged with the following:

· Production of a controlled substance

· Possession/Production of anything used to produce or traffic a controlled substance

He will be appearing in Airdrie Provincial Court on Dec. 3, 2020.

Iqubal Singh Sidhu (21 yrs) of Abbotsford, BC was arrested at the scene and has been charged with the following:

· Production of a controlled substance

· Possession/Production of anything used to produce or traffic a controlled substance

He will be appearing in Airdrie Provincial Court on Dec. 17, 2020.
