Good Samaritans track senior’s assailants; ARRESTED

Calgary, Alberta – Calgarians have once again stepped up to help us find two people responsible for the robbery and assault of a senior in November.

Just before 10:30 a.m., on Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2020, a woman in her 70s was waiting to cross eastbound at the intersection of 37 Street and Bow Trail S.W., when an unknown man and woman approached her from behind. The man allegedly grabbed the senior and kicked her multiple times. One of the assailants allegedly hit her over the head, causing her to fall to the ground. The suspects took the senior’s purse and ran towards Westbrook Mall. A Good Samaritan followed the suspects and was able to return the senior’s purse to her. Unfortunately, the money it contained was missing.

A media release was issued on Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2020, with CCTV images of the assailants. Thanks to tips from the public, we were able to identify the suspects and executed a search warrant on Thursday, Dec. 10. 2020, at a residence in the 4200 block of Bow Trail S.W. Five people were located within the residence, including the two suspects who were promptly arrested. Clothing items matching those in the CCTV images were located within the residence and seized.

Justin Richard CARTER, 23, has been charged with robbery and four counts of failure to comply with a release order. He was also arrested on 14 outstanding warrants.

Tamara Dawn CROWCHIEF, 29, has been charged with robbery and was also arrested on 13 outstanding warrants.

Both of the accused will next appear in court on Monday, Dec. 21, 2020.
