Athabasca RCMP charge male with attempted murder

Bigstone Cree Nation, Alberta – On Nov. 29, 2020 at approximately 4:30 a.m., Athabasca RCMP responded to report of a stabbing at a residence on the Bigstone Cree Nation.

Police arrived and located an adult female victim with serious but non-life threatening injuries. The victim was transported to hospital via EMS. Further investigation revealed the same accused male was alleged to have attended separate residences the night previous where additional physical confrontations occurred with two separate adult victims. The victims were not seriously injured.

The accused male was later located by police at a residence in the early morning hours and arrested without incident.

Clinton Bigstone (27) of no fixed address was charged with 12 offences, some of which include:

· Attempted murder (x2)

· Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose (x2)

· Assault

· Uttering threats

· Mischief (x2)

He was remanded into custody after a judicial hearing and his next court appearance will be on Dec. 14, 2020 in Athabasca Provincial Court.
