Strathmore RCMP advise of closure of area of Highway 22x for a serious collision investigation – UPDATED

Strathmore, Alberta – Strathmore RCMP advise Highway 22x has reopened.

The investigation reveals that the semi-truck and trailer was westbound and the car was eastbound on Highway 22x when the collision occurred.

The 21-year-old male driver of the involved car was declared deceased at scene. Two occupants of the semi-truck sustained minor injuries and were treated at the scene.

The RCMP Collision Analyst attended to assist with investigation. The cause of collision still under investigation however road conditions are believed to have contributed to the incident. Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be involved.

No further updates will be provided.

BACKGROUND

Strathmore, Alberta – Strathmore RCMP are currently on scene of a serious collision involving a semi-tractor trailer and a car on Highway 22x between Highway 797 and Highway 24.
